Group therapy is a very unique and collaborative way to work with individuals that may be struggling in the same area but are at different phases of healing. Some people truly shine in these settings and others prefer to engage in the privacy of individual counseling. Groups are typically between 6-10 people and can be run by either one or two therapists typically. It can sometimes be used alone, but is often in addition to a comprehensive treatment plan that includes individual therapy and sometimes medicine when their medical team feels that it is necessary. The main focus is the instillation of hope for members by providing a unique window into others that are at various stages of their journey. Group members are able to impart information with each other and have the feeling that they are not alone and belong to a group that is understanding and supportive of their challenges.
