Generally speaking most people have experienced some level of anxiety in their life. It is a normal human emotion that happens when we are confronted with things that are unexpected, unpleasant or new. However, anxiety disorders include a more severe level of anxiousness that impacts functioning. These can include, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder, phobias, and generalized anxiety disorder. True clinical anxiety impacts our ability to lead a normal life, but is also very treatable. Treatment sometimes requires a new set of strategies and coping mechanisms and sometimes may require a full review of the biochemical or brain chemistry that may be impacting and creating the symptoms. My approach is always a holistic approach, determining what is happening in the mind, body and soul of each client I work with.
